It’s hard to believe that 10 years have already passed when the first title of one of the most successful game series was published. I don’t know what gift got the developer team, but the good news are: Ubisoft thought about us, gamer, too and offered the Splinter Cell Complete for only 17 Euro. Sure, there is not a real gift in the strict sense, because the games are not really for free. But if you have always been fascinated by Splinter Cell, but had for example only one part of the series, you have the opportunity now, to buy the whole collection very cheap. I’m, had no game of the series, but I have always wanted to get it. That’s why I was really glad about this offer. I ordered the game on Amazon Market Place. For some reason Amazon was able to deliver the game only in two weeks. I’m wanted to get the game faster and that’s why I bought it about one of Amazon’s partners. I was able to save not only time but also money because the shop where I ordered the game, offered it cheaper. On the second day I got the post. Great performance, I would say, especially when you consider that the smaller suppliers, such as that where I ordered the game, have less logistics capacity.
The game has a cardboard package. Inside it there is a normal DVD box. Strange I think the fact that on only 3 DVDs were attached on the spindle. The first part of the game is in a paper bag. Is it a savings measure, because there are no any DVD boxes, which could hold 4 DVDs on a spindle? I don’t know what that really was. But no matter.
I started to play from the first part. I have the whole collection and that’s why I should play through it, otherwise I could just get the last part. As for me, the graphic effects of the first part are not really bad.

Quake is a well-known and popular computer game. I think that only a few of us remember about the first part of this game. The modern gamers can not understand why big men have such feelings for a game with such old computer graphics. Unfortunately, currently the developers don’t work on interesting history and atmosphere for a game, they use all of the resources for the development of the graphics engine. The besit examples of such strategy are the games Crysis or Assassins Creed. These games look beautiful, but they attract only small children. This children, because of their age, doesn’t play a games developed by Sierra or Luckas Arts and therefore have no idea how interesting and entertaining a lovingly programmed computer game can be.
I discovered a few days ago a small HOWTO, which describes how to run Quake 1 under Windows XP with a high resolution and bit 3D.
Everything you need is the game Quake 1, 2 patches (1.0-1.06, 1.06-1.08) and GLQuake.
GLQuake makes it possible in the combination of OpenGL and DirectX sound to run the game Quake I on Windows XP with a very good graphics.
I tried first Quake 1 on Windows Vista, but it didn’t work. Then I was able to run it on my Medion Akoya mini under Windows XP. Unfortunately, I have currently no much time to play, otherwise I would play the game to the end within a week or even less. But perhaps it is better so I will enjoy it:)

No question, the game Earth 2160 is quite old. I would like to tell a few words about it. Although Earth 2160 is pretty old game, it has a really good gameplay and cheap price and that’s why I would recommend to try out this game. The game costs currently only 5 €, what I find very cheap.
The most of the ideas of this game were “borrowed” by the developers from StarCraft, but because Blizzard does not make any RTS aside from WarCraft since 1998 (10 years!) I’m glad that some other developers were able to realise the idea and spirit of StarCraft in their own games, which are using a modern technology.

Scenario:
During the last war (Earth 2150 and Earth 2140) our planet, Earth was destroyed. Most people found a new home on Mars. After the destruction of the earth, there is no peaceful coexistence life. The moon corporation, which consists mainly of women, fighting against the Eurasian dynasty (ED). Third Group - the United States (The United Civilized States) occur only in the course of the game. However, there will an event which will contribute to several representatives of different factions are fighting side by side, for a very important objective, that will change the lives of all people. What an event I think I will not describe exactly so you could have more fun from the game.

Graphics:
The graphics in the game is very nice and also for the present time quite topical. I particularly like the possibility of the turning of the map to 360 °. You can also zoom in pretty far and so see the faces of the soldiers.

Sound:
The music is very impressive. The songs, sung by a woman make the atmosphere very unique.

Special features:
An interesting feature of the game is the possibility of building of vehicles by the player himself. The player assumes the decision was for armor, weapons and what for a motor the vehicle will have. For example, a vehicle with chemical armor is good for operations against aliens. The composite armor is a good protection against laser guns.

Game:
It’s quite fun to play this game. Although of all criticism, I found Earth 2160 a very successful game with interesting ideas, I am glad that I bought this game.

World of Warcraft or shortly WoW is a role-play game that revolutionized the gaming experience. At least I hear often this statement. Of course I wanted to try out this game, which I did by registering a free test account for 10 days.
The developers of the game tried to accent their main power not at graphic engine, as in recent times often happens, but on the gaming experience. They created a vast virtual world where many players can play together. You can create alliances (the so-called guilds), or connect an existing guild or play independently. However, since the idea of the game is a playing with several players together, it is also advisable, at least until you have little experience level to connect to existing guild, perhaps before creating own.
Experience in this game, as in other MMORGS, is a value that could be increased with fulfillment of various tasks (quests). Unlike other games of this type, you can change by solving the quests except experience the reputation of your avatar. Depending on the task, you can increase and reduce the reputation at the same time: you enhance own reputation by solving a task for one ally and lose the reputation by this act for the other ally.
The world in the game is so great that without racing animals, on whose shoulders we can move quickly, it is very difficult, to reach remote locations. However, the racing animals are not so easy to get and not all have much time to earn an animal. Some players are ready to buy virtual goods for real money on eBay. The sellers are mostly situated in China, where they operate professionally Farming, it means that they solve certain tasks, with the aim to get virtual goods in large quantities to sell them later on eBay. In the press I read a report that a young woman was trying to sell herself for a night to earn a virtual goodies with the aim to buy a bird with which she could fly through the virtual world of WoW. The autors of this report calculated that by the purchasing of the required quantity of goods on eBay, this woman is very cheap to have.
As for me, I found the game very time-consuming, I can simply not allow me to play so much. As a student I have no much time for something like this, and the fee is still fairly expensive, in my opinion. This game is definitely not for me.

Command and Conquier: Tiberium Wars is a new real-time strategy game. The story of the game is the same as in older C&C games. The struggle between Brotherhood of NOD and GDI (Global Defence Initiative) forces escalates, after Nod attack on space satellite Philadelphia.

The game has many video sequences where you will be informed about the occurrence of the story.

As for me, these sequences are boring, but it is better than to play without them.

I don’t saw any RTS better than StarCraft, but C&C 3 Tiberium Wars is one of such RTS that are really interesting to play.

In addition, the game has very nice graphic and you don’t need to have the latest hardware to play it.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – Shadow of Chornobyl is an action game with elements of RPG.

The story of the game, developed by GCS Game World, Ukrainian developer of computer games, tells about a second nuclear disaster occurs at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The gameplay is a non-linear. Player has a possibility to explore The Zone or complete different quests that he can receive from NPCs.

The protagonist of the game called “The Marked One” is a Stalker. Stalkers live in The Zone, their aim is to collect artefacts and sell them.

I like this game because of authentic graphic. The buildings and autos look like the originals.

The AI has some bugs, but it is very intelligent. It is hard to forecast the behaviour of the enemy. If you will be killed and you try to understand the way of your enemy, you are wrong. The possibility that your enemy will choose other way to attack you is much more high than that he will try to repeat his doings.

There are some moments that I hate in this game. For example is a shooting of hundreds of bandits. It is not interesting to spend hours of time only by killing them and that’s why I didn’t finish the game yet.

Guild Wars Nightfall is the third part of the online role-playing game Guild Wars.

What is the highlight of Guild Wars? Why it is better than World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings Online?

This game is better, because you don’t need to pay any monthly fees to play it. But I would not compare this game with those games as WoW. The principle of Guild Wars is not the same as in WoW or other MMORPG.

In this game you have a possibility to play PvE or PvP game. If you choose PvE (Player vs. Environment), you will begin as a new player, without any experience and with level 0. In this kind of game you can find different goodies, which will improve your defence and offensive capabilities (runes, weapons, armours, spells, etc.) and complete quests to increase your level.

The Avatars for PvP game (Player vs. Player) have level 20 from beginning.

In this part you can play versus other players. You can use your goodies from RPG game to play PvP.

As for me, I like this game, but I wish it could have more possibilities to play PvE with other players.

I hope that Guild Wars 2 will have it.

Battlefield 2 is actually my first online game that I bought. It is an “old” game, but very popular.

The principle of the game is like how other games of this genre. You have a choice between 2 sides, which are fighting against each other. Each side has a spec ops, support, snipers, medics, engineers, assaults and anti-tanks.

Each infantry class has own weapons. Anti-Tanks have among other things bazooka, snipers – sniper riffle, engineers can repair vehicles, medics can treat and reanimate wounded soldiers.

The highlight of the game is, that you can fight not only with your weapons, but you can flight with different kinds of war-plains and helicopters, drive tanks, autos and boots.

For kills and teamwork you receive score that you can see in online stats. With a time, if you play good, you will receive awards and new weapons.
